Superstitions in Meiji-Period Japan

Japanese culture blog Pink Tentacle has had a fantastic series on superstitions running for a while now. Their most recent installment focuses on the Meiji period (1868-1912), when Japan was experiencing rapid technological advancement, and there are some real doozies.
As is often the case, misconceptions about electricity figured prominently in folk fears of the time. This is such a common theme that we can't help but wonder if anyone has ever compiled a master list of the world's electrical superstitions - done right, it could be a great read.
